Report on AI/ML Workshop for Class VIII Students at Vidyalaya
    Introduction
A five-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) using Python was conducted at Vidyalaya for Class VIII students. This initiative was a part of the PM SHRI Scheme (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India), aimed at enhancing students’ technological skills. The workshop was organized by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Daman, and was delivered by Mr. Jiso Kurian, a faculty member from NIELIT Daman.
The primary objective of the workshop was to introduce the students to the concepts of AI and ML, familiarizing them with the evolving world of technology. It provided both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to various aspects of AI and ML. The workshop was well-received by the students, and they gained valuable insights into the core areas of AI and ML, including regression, classification, clustering, and various real-world applications of these technologies.

Day 1: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The first day of the workshop focused on providing a basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence. Mr. Jiso Kurian began by defining AI and explaining its significance in today’s world. The students were introduced to the concept of machines simulating human-like intelligence to solve complex problems. Mr. Kurian also discussed the various fields within AI, such as robotics, natural language processing (NLP), and expert systems, and how these technologies are transforming industries.
The importance of AI in everyday life was emphasized, with real-life examples like virtual assistants (Siri, Alexa), recommendation systems (Netflix, YouTube), and self-driving cars.

Day 2: Introduction to Machine Learning (ML)
On the second day, the focus shifted to Machine Learning, a key subset of AI. Mr. Kurian began by explaining the fundamental concept of ML: the ability of machines to learn from data and improve their performance over time. The students learned about different types of machine learning, including supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning.

Day 3: Regression, Classification, and Clustering
The third day of the workshop was dedicated to more in-depth learning of key ML algorithms: regression, classification, and clustering. Mr. Kurian explained regression as a method for predicting continuous values based on historical data. The students learned how to use regression algorithms for tasks like predicting house prices based on features such as location, size, and number of rooms.
Classification algorithms were then covered, with a focus on their use in tasks like identifying spam emails or classifying images.
Clustering, which involves grouping similar data points together, was also introduced. Examples of clustering in real-world applications, such as customer segmentation in marketing, were shared to help students grasp its practical importance.

Day 4: AI Tools and Applications
Day four focused on introducing the students to various online tools and platforms that leverage AI. Mr. Kurian demonstrated some popular AI-based tools and applications, allowing students to see the power of AI in action. These included tools for image recognition. The students were particularly excited to explore how AI is used to recognize objects in images.

Day 5: Practical Sessions and Hands-On Activities
The final day of the workshop was dedicated to practical sessions and hands-on activities. Using Python, a popular programming language for AI and ML, students were guided through the process of writing simple AI programs.
